Why do you need to perform a functional check of valves?
According to AFS 2017:3, functional checks of pressurised devices and circuits are required. By checking the function of safety valves, you know that they are working properly. You also reduce the risk of equipment failure (resulting in costly downtime), and you prevent personal injury. If regular functional checks are not carried out, the Swedish Work Environment Authority can impose a fine and, in the worst case, a ban on the facility.
The frequency of functional checks of safety valves is determined together with the inspection engineer from the accredited inspection body. The most common interval is 12-18-24-36 months.
Functional control in operation with smooth and safe handling
Our equipment is designed for mobile use in demanding environments, avoiding disassembly and transport of large valves. Thanks to the lightweight rig, we can also check difficult-to-access valves in operation.
When we test your safety valves, we assess the opening pressure, spring curve and tightness under normal operating conditions. With the help of stroke limitation, we can control the cooling of unhealthy media and thus reduce the risk of environmentally hazardous emissions.
